Go Greek! 2014 Fall USU Recruitment!

This post is dedicated on the benefits and rewards of going Greek! First off, Every house is a bit different and not one is better than all the others. Everyone is unique and so are sororities. The best place is where you feel at home and what unites the whole Greek community, is the similar values and campus involvement that is shared. It really is such a joy to be more involved, do service for others, network with different people, have a good time, make long lasting friendships, have an extra drive with school, and to make USU your home.

So why go Greek?

Going to college, figuring out the right major, moving forward with your future, and growing up are all challenging things. Being Greek is a comforting organization to be a part of.

You get involved, you have your sisters to get you through the rough spots, you have grade requirements and goals, you network a ton, you do service, you are a part of fun events, you are able to be social, you are able to be yourself, you have a family away from home, you have the opportunity to serve leadership positions, you meet people from all wakes of life, and you get to be a part of something bigger.

We collaborated stories from active members from our chapter on why they went Greek:

"Going Greek was the the last thing I thought I would ever do. But since I have been Greek it has been the best thing of my life. I have learned how to communicate with people better. I have some of the best relationships with these girls and I know they will last a lifetime. I have found some of my very closest friends and it is so great to always have someone to talk to. I know going Greek has been the best decision I have ever made and i haven't ever had any regrets about it. I love the Greek community and all it can do for you as an individual. Go greeeeek!!!!!!!" -Madi

"I am so thankful that I went Greek. I felt at home with my chapter. But a huge reason why I went Greek was to be more involved! My freshman year of college, I wasn't involved. I was by myself a lot, and had no idea how college worked. It was actually a roommate I had, when I interned in Florida that made me want to go Greek. I love the sisterhood, I love how we all share common values, I love doing service for others, and meeting people from all different wakes of life. I love how we are all so accepting of each other's beliefs, standards, and personalities. I love being part of something bigger than myself, and having friendships that will last forever I absolutely love being Greek! I can't even put into words all the opportunities we have, the things we do, and how great it is. But the blessings and reasons are endless! It's wonderful! Do it! Get involved! Be you! Find where you belong & go Greek!" -Victoria

"I went greek so I could meet more people and create new friendships while I was in college.  It was such a great experience and I loved every minute of it.  It was one of my favorite memories from college.  If I could redo my decision on going greek I wouldn't change it for anything." -Shelby

"Before I went Greek, I was pretty shy and didn't want friends. Joining a sorority changed that. It helped me become a stronger person who wasn't afraid of people. I love the Greek community because we are all different (in a good way) but we still are able to love each other. I have found some of my best friends going Greek and I am proud of the confident woman I have become. I didn't think it was for me but Greek life can be for anyone. My sisters are so diverse I can find someone who wants to do anything with me, from hiking to crafting to watching football. And the great thing about it is that I don't have to be their best friend, I can just hang out with them and be myself because we share a bond as sisters.
When I used to swim, we had an acronym YOGOWYPI: You Only Get Out What You Put In. I feel like this applies to everything, including Greek life. So try it out. Go through recruitment week. Put your heart into finding your place in a Greek house and you WILL surprise yourself." -Iris

"Going greek has made more of an impact on my life than any other experience I have ever had. I’ve been graduated from Utah State for just over a year now, and after living in my Chapter's house for 3 wonderful years, it is hard to call my 1 bedroom apt in downtown Chicago “my home”.  I went Greek to  make some girlfriends and get involved on campus, but what is more…I found myself in a safe haven surrounded by the unconditional love of my sisters; a new family. I cannot put into words the feelings of love, joy, and completeness this organization has given me. I learned so much about myself, my relationships with others, my abilities, and so much more.
The one word that I would describe my time in the my sisterhood would be “Fulfilled”! -Danielle

"I am a legacy through my mom, and she always told me to go through recruitment. She was in the same chapter at Utah State as well. I wasn't going to go through because I didn't want to follow in her footsteps but rather do my own thing. I am incredibly glad I joined! There is so much more to Greek life than I ever expected and I absolutely love all of my sisters. It has given me something that I was lacking in my college experience that I wouldn't trade for a lifetime! And I also get to share this amazing sisterhood with my mom, and it's bonded us even more. Going Greek was and is the best choice I've ever made:) Now it's time for me to leave my legacy!" -Katie
